Chopin: Ballade No. 4 in F minor, Op. 52
Heidi is a classically trained pianist, performer and educator. Born in Hong Kong, Heidi started learning piano at the age of 5 as part of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) where she achieved distinction. She went on to receive a Master's degree from Cleveland Institute of Music followed by a Doctoral degree from Boston University. Heidi has toured all over Europe, Asia and the United States both as a solo performer and as part of various chamber ensembles, touring all over Europe, collaborating with a number of outstanding artists including John Perry, Margo Garrett, Leon Fleisher, Charles Castleman and James Buswell. In 2009, she appeared as a soloist with Central Michigan University Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to playing chamber music, Heidi hS also worked as an official pianist at Simmons College where she coached singers and instrumentalists at The Quartet Program. During HER last year at BU, Heidi organized performances at the BU Medical Center where she performed and interacted with patients.
Heidi has close to ten years of teaching experience teaching a variety of musical genres including classical and pop. She’s held recitals and masterclasses in Europe and the United States and passionately believes in the transformative power of music. She loves to teach piano to students of all ages and skill levels and believes that piano studies not only develop a lifetime of music appreciation but also a set of significant skills including creativity and ability to focus and persevere. She encourages all of her students to find their passion for music through demonstration and listening assignments and works with each student’s individuality to create tailor made curriculum while making sure that they are fully engaged and having fun along the way.
