LIGHT UP! Soyulla Artists’ Virtual Musical Theatre Camp

Soyulla Artists is proud to present LIGHT UP!, a virtual Broadway summer musical theater camp for students ages 8-18 who are passionate about musical theatre. Taught by leading Broadway actors, singers, choreographers and coaches, our 2-week program (running August 10-21) is open to both experienced and beginning students who love musical theatre and are ready to learn in an exciting, interactive and transformational setting from Broadway’s top leading professionals.

Meet Your Teachers:
N'KENGE
Voice
International Award Winning Singer, N'Kenge, was called "Electrifying" by the NY Post in the role of Mary Wells that she originated in Broadway's Smash Hit Motown: The Musical. N'Kenge was recently seen on National TV singing the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden and will return to Broadway in the Spring of 2021 in the revival of “Caroline, or Change” in the role of THE MOON. N’Kenge is the star, conceiver and producer of Broadway bound musical based on Hollywood’s very own African-American Star Dorothy Dandridge. N’Kenge is as equally passionate in her teaching as she is on stage and strives to help her students become more fierce by owning their individual voice and unique personality.
MATTHEW COROZINE
Drama
A Tony Award nominee for 2015 and 2018 Excellence in Theatre Education, Matthew has become one of New York City’s leading acting coaches. He is founding artistic director of Matthew Corozine studio now celebrating its 20th year where he coaches and teachers Acting. Matthew has coached on MTV's Emmy Award Winning "Made," taught acting at American Academy of Dramatic Arts (NYC) and acting and improvisation at SUNY Purchase. He has been a guest artist teaching master classes in Meisner at SoHo House New York, SAG-AFTRA, The King's College (NYC), Texarts (Austin, Texas), Hudson Valley Improv, Actors Connection, The Network (NYC), and Northwestern College (Iowa). In addition to being a dedicated educator, Matthew is also an ardent director and producer.
JAMES T. LANE
Dance
An established Broadway actor and dancer with credits that include; Broadway: Kiss Me, Kate (Paul), King Kong the Musical ,The Scottsboro Boys (Ozie Powell/Ruby Bates), Chicago and A Chorus Line (Richie Walters). National Tours: Jersey Boys, Cinderella, Fame the Musical. West End: The Scottsboro Boys, A Chorus Line - Revival (Palladium Theatre). His Regional Theatre credits include: Mary Poppins (Bert) Drury Lane Theatre, The Wiz (Tin Man), Broadway at Music Circus, The Old Globe, The Little Mermaid (Sebastian) The Muny, A.C.T and Dallas Theatre Center. No matter where he goes, James is proud to always make time for teaching and inspiring young students in developing their passion for dance and storytelling.

The two-week program, which will run from August 10-21, will include an exciting and one of a kind curriculum designed for students who are passionate about musical theatre and are ready to learn from top of line professional Broadway performers and coaches. Students will learn:

Class Schedule:
​
Classes will run from August 10-21 and will be offered to students ages 8-18. Classes will include:

Six group Voice lessons (45 mins/3 per week)
-
Six group Dance lessons (45 mins/3 per week)
-
Six group Drama lessons (45mins/3 per week)
-
Six private Voice lessons (30mins/3 per week)
-
Four private Dance classes (30mins/2 per week)
-
Four private Drama classes (30mins/2 per week)
-
Two learning sessions with prominent Broadway industry surprise guests

Group Lessons will meet Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays:
9-9:45 Group Dance
10-10:45 Group Voice
11-11:45 Group Drama
Private Lessons will be arranged at a time that’s most convenient for each student and teacher.
​
The two week program will culminate in a student showcase, highlighting students' artistic accomplishments and growth.
August 2020 sessions will be offered online via Zoom.
