Steven C’s musical journey started at 6 years of age. He comes from a lineage of Indian Carnatic music composers that trace back to Tanjore, India, the birthplace of Indian Carnatic Music.

He is currently an active performing musician and educator in New York City. Steven holds two Bachelor of Music degrees from Berklee College of Music. Among his greatest inspirations are music theorists Joseph Schillinger and George Russell, as well as his teachers, Mike Stern, Ken Pullig, Ted Pease, and Maria Schneider.

Steven continues to build upon his strong musical foundations, expressing his improvisational and technical prowess as a virtuosic guitarist, crafting imaginative sonic landscapes as a composer/orchestrator, and expressing his deep love for vocal music as a singer-songwriter.

Steven crafts each lesson to the individual student, focusing on specific musical interests. He believes that lessons should be fun and interactive, while incorporating the fundamentals of music and creating a personal connection with each of his students.
