Hailing from Hartford, CT and son of two internationally renowned jazz musicians, Tony D. has made himself known as one of the most unique upcoming voices on the guitar today. He earned his B.M. from the acclaimed Hartt School of Music followed by his M.M. at City College of NY. At both of these institutions he had the privilege to study with some of the greatest jazz musicians in the world including Peter Bernstein, Steve Wilson and Nat Reeves. Now based in Manhattan, he regularly performs at some of NYC's most notable venues such as The Blue Note, Smalls, Mezzrow, Jazz at Lincoln Center and Birdland Jazz Club. He has performed with giants of jazz such as Christian McBride, Abraham Burton, Joe Farnsworth and Harold Mabern. Tony has played major festivals such as The Newport Jazz Festival and Greater Hartford Jazz Festival, and was featured as a rising star guitarist in the 2016 Wes Montgomery Tribute Festival in Indianapolis, IN. He also has led his own group on international tours. In 2019 Davis was signed by the acclaimed Posi-Tone record label and released his debut album "Golden Year", which features an all-star lineup including: Dezron Douglass, Eric McPherson, Steve Davis, Alina Engibaryan, Steve Wilson and David Bryant. In March 2021 he released his first solo (guitar and voice) project with an EP entitled "Tres Palabras". In 2022, he was signed by one of the leading labels of contemporary music, La Reserve Records, and is set to release a duo album with the incredible Brazilian vocalist Jamile Ayres on July 8th, 2022.
Tony has been educating through his private studio and with various esteemed music institutions for 10 years. He is an active member of the famous Newport Jazz Festival teaching program which exposes children to jazz music and beyond by bringing concerts to public schools throughout New England. With extensive experience teaching students of all ages, levels, and musical backgrounds, Tony is devoted to helping guitarists find their spark, inspiring them to love and excel at their craft. He strongly believes that having fun is integral to learning music.
