Saxophone usually starts around ages 9 to 11, once a child has developed lung capacity, finger coordination, and adult front teeth. Some kids start at 8 with the right teacher and a smaller alto saxophone. Teens and adults are excellent saxophone beginners, often progressing quickly because they bring focus and motivation.
