Amelia S.

Violin, Viola

Genres: Classical, Pop

Teaches in English

Amelia S. is a virtuosic and adventurous performer of modern and Baroque violin. Having made her solo debut with the Seattle Festival Orchestra at the age of eight, Amelia has gone on to solo with the Seattle Symphony, Coeur d’Alene Symphony, Cascade Symphony, Sammamish Symphony, Philharmonia Northwest, and Juilliard415.

Amelia received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Violin Performance from the New England Conservatory, where she studied with Paul Biss, Miriam Fried, and Soovin Kim. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Historical Performance at the Juilliard School.

Amelia has collaborated as a chamber musician with Joseph Silverstein, Laurie Smukler, and members of the Borromeo Quartet, amongst others. She is currently a member of the Arrow Quartet, which strives to perform music from the vast canon of string quartet repertoire in the way it sounded when it was conceived—with gut strings, historical bows, and an eye toward an authentic performance practice.

She has performed under the baton of many premier conductors, including Ton Koopman, Hugh Wolff, and Masaaki Suzuki. Most recent engagements include Trinity Church’s performances of Handel’s Theodora.

As an educator, Amelia focuses on social-emotional development by helping students connect their musical excellence to their emotions and mindset. She has experience in both private teaching and group classes via the El Sistema model. Her work experience includes positions at Bridge Boston Charter School, Boston Music Project, and the Yamaha Music School of Boston.
