Born and raised in the small town of Lillington, North Carolina, Audra’s love for music began at a young age while performing in children’s choirs and musicals. After completing a BM in Vocal Performance (Classical) at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Audra attended NYU Steinhardt, where earned an MM in Vocal Performance (Musical Theatre) and a Post-Master’s Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy. During her time there, she served as an adjunct professor of voice and president of the NYU student chapter of the National Association of
Teachers of Singing (SNATS). Additionally, she was presented with the “Distinguished Contribution and Leadership in Vocal Pedagogy” award from NYU Steinhardt.
As an active performer, Audra is a diverse artist who aims to live truthfully and bring honesty to each performance. Most recently, Audra was seen as Cinderella in Into the Woods with the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival. Other favorite roles include Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel and Second Spirit in Die Zauberflöte. She has also appeared at various cabaret venues in NYC, including 54 Below, Green Room 42, Chelsea Table + Stage, and The Cutting Room.
In addition to theatrical work, Audra enjoys singing Jazz and often performs at various sessions in NYC. Audra’s education and performing experience shape her approach to teaching all ages and skill levels. Her extensive knowledge of the voice, combined with her gentle and empathetic approach to the art of teaching, enables her to connect with students. This fosters a safe, fun, and progress-centered learning environment. She encourages every student to set strong goals and be open to new and fun discoveries along the way. When Audra isn’t teaching or performing, she is most likely traveling, enjoying a cup of coffee, and/or spending time with her cat!
