Eli is a professional drummer and teacher. He has performed across the United States and Europe in venues from festival stages to bar rooms and has recorded in studios across the country. Eli teaches a wide variety of styles and genres and he has a deep love for odd-meter and experimental music. Eli attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Drumset Performance. At Berklee, he also studied under brush-master Jon Hazilla and jazz-visionary Ian Froman.
Born into a musical family in Los Angeles, Eli took up drums at the age of 10. While growing up, he played in jazz bands and salsa bands and studied under Matt Starr (a disciple of Joe Morello’s teaching method). Since then, he has studied with drumset giants Ralph Humphrey, Joe Porcaro and Terri-Lyne Carrington.
Eli has taught professionally for 8 years. He emphasizes fundamentals like technique/groove and solidifies those fundamentals by applying them to songs that his students are passionate about learning. The drums are fun to learn and Eli strives to spark that joy in all of his students!
