Helen J. is a versatile performer, acclaimed pianist, and dedicated educator based in New York City, where she also serves as an adjunct professor at NYU. She holds a Master of Music degree (MM) and Advanced Certificate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from New York University.
Helen began performing publicly at the age of four, won her first national competition at six, and has since appeared extensively across the United States and abroad. Career highlights include a solo recital at the John A. Paulson Center and a world premiere performance at NYU’s Tutte le Corde Festival — a celebrated collaboration between composers and pianists.
Rooted in classical piano yet fluent across genres, Helen’s artistry spans musical theater, baroque ensembles, and large-scale symphonic collaborations. She has performed with the NYU Broadway Orchestra, the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and numerous chamber groups, earning a reputation for both her technical mastery and her dynamic versatility on stage.
As an educator, Helen draws on her rich and varied performance background to craft engaging, well-rounded lessons. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes technical precision, expressive artistry, and the cultivation of independent musicianship. Each lesson blends repertoire, technique, theory, history, and interpretation, ensuring that music-making is not only rigorous and comprehensive, but also joyful and personally meaningful for every student.
