Mia is a New York City-based violinist. She is recognized as a versatile and dynamic player who has performed across North America and Europe in such venues that include Carnegie Hall, The Orpheum Theater, SFJAZZ, and more.
Raised in New England, Mia studied in New York City at Mannes Pre-College and with eminent violin teacher Shirley Givens, before earning her BM (2014) and MM (2016) in Violin Performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Bettina Mussumeli. While at SFCM, Mia was concertmaster of the Conservatory Orchestra and therecipient of the Sergei Barsukov Scholarship for Violin.
Mia is the first violinist and founder of the string quartet ASTRAEUS, and a member of the touring group the Emo Orchestra. She is also a touring member of the heavy rock band Spirit Mother, and regularly performs with the Brooklyn Chamber Players and the String Orchestra of Brooklyn.
While in California, Mia was a substitute violinist for Opera San Jose, and a member of the new music ensembles Ninth Planet and Ensemble for These Times.
What sets Mia' teaching apart is her dedication to each and every one of her students. Being a part
of Mia's studio is more than just attending one lesson a week; it’s also being in a community of learners with whom she nurtures a love for music and the violin.
