Sami is an experienced vocalist, singer/songwriter, actor, and voice teacher who cares deeply about instilling confidence and artistry in young singers. Sami has been fortunate to perform a variety of styles, from musical theatre, to pop, rock, R&B, country, folk, and more around the world. As a teacher, she prioritizes creating a safe, explorative environment. She welcomes curiosity and aspires to be a lifelong learner.
Born in Louisville, KY Sami spent her formative years singing in church choir and community theatre. She fell in love with old movie musicals like The Sound of Music and later obtained her B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from Shenandoah Conservatory. Sami has been fortunate to perform globally with Celebrity Cruises and in regional theatres nationwide. Her original music will appear in a feature film coming to festivals next year. She has also performed her original work here in New York with plans to develop it into a fully staged musical.
Sami fell in love with teaching music while working at theatre camps in her teens. From teaching vocal parts for junior musicals to providing private voice lessons at her home studio, she understands that the key to growth is confidence. Sami’s lessons feature a unique blend of technical exercises and artistic exploration inspired by her experiences as an actor. This two-pronged approach creates strong, healthy voices and open, curious artists. After all, her teaching philosophy is that there is no technique without artistry, and there is no artistry without technique.
