Valerie Torres-Rosario is a Puerto Rican actor, singer, artist, and educator based in New York. She has been singing and performing for over twenty years. As a child, she had the fortune of attending a school with a performing arts program, which set the foundation for her pursual of artistic endeavors in higher education. Although originally matriculated for Pre-Medical studies, Valerie graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Performance. During those years, she attended intensives like The Performing Arts Project and the American Theater Wing's SpringboardNYC program. She continues to study with Matt Morgan--a sought-after artist both in performance a teaching capacities. With foundations in classical training, Valerie's vocal and teaching capacities run the gamut from legit to musical theater, jazz, pop and rock styles.

Since graduating, Valerie has worked regionally in the United States as a performer, vocalist, and theater educator. Some notable moments include directing and choreographing a musical in a two-week summer camp with 2nd to 7th grade students, recording music and music videos with Thomas Sanders, and singing for Chita Rivera's honorary doctorate degree ceremony. In 2023, Valerie had her Broadway debut in the Lincoln Center Revival of Camelot as a swing (covering six ensemble tracks) and Guenevere understudy (played nightly by Philippa Soo).

As an educator, she fiercely believes that humans (big and small) are most open to learning, discovery, and exploration when met with respect and a warm, safe environment in which they can embrace “failure” as a necessary and celebratory step forward. In her practices, her goal is to equip the student with tools that sustainably encourage and support the student’s own unique sense of autonomy, play, and freedom. In this way, when we begin by honoring the humanity of the artist, we make room for true, lasting growth and learning.

Ever the student herself, Valerie enjoys using her free time to learn languages (of which she is fluent in English & Spanish and a beginner/intermediate in ASL), study human physiology, read, paint, attempt new recipes, and research all varieties of topics. She is curious about the world and excited for the experiences and challenges ahead, discoveries to make, and the lessons to be learned. Above all, she aspires to help, encourage, and give light to others.
