Yejin is a passionate and energetic voice and piano teacher based in New Jersey. She loves to work with students of all ages and levels. Yejin was born in Seoul, Korea and is a professional opera singer. She has extensive experience performing classical music. Yejin is described by Opera News as a “robust coloratura Soprano..’ and by Brooklyn Discovery as “ a quicksilver quality and her theatrical bravura was truly outstanding..”


Some career highlights have been winning the Metropolitan Opera National Council Florida District, Opera Connecticut Voice competition (1st place), New York Lyric Opera Theater Competition (3rd place), NATS Competition Eastern Region (1st place), and Encouragements and Honorable mentions of Opera at Florham, Opera Connecticut Competition, The Kenette Symphony Voice competition, being a finalist at Opera Ithaca competition.

She successfully made her debut at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall with the New York Lyric Opera Theater by winning their competition. Additionally, She sang the role of Adele in Die Fledermaus for Martina Arroyo Foundation for Young Artist Concert at WQXR, New York Public radio station. She also performed a solo performance "Ololyga" by composer Kamala Sankaram at Merkin Recital Hall. Yejin participated in the Apprentice Program at Opera Southwest as the leading role "Alice" of the Opera Le Louq Garou, in Vocal Fellowship at Lakes Area Music Festival as the role of Naiad from Ariadne auf Naxos and also worked with Martina Arroyo Foundation as a role of Adele from Die Fledermaus. 
 

She earned her Master’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music and her Artist Diploma Certificate at Montclair State University. Before she came to the United States, she studied classical voice at Kookmin University (BM,MM) in Seoul where she received full scholarships for the entire academic years. Also, she won several well-known competitions such as Music Education News Concours 1st place, Youngsan Music Concours 3rd place, The Korea herald Music Competition 3rd place, Music Journal Competition 3rd place and so on.

 

Yejin thinks that music is unique to each individual student and all students are entitled to the same standards of teaching.  She believes that the top priorities in teaching are to provide students with a comfortable learning environment, open lines of communication, encouragement in their progress, and tactful honest evaluation of their skills and needs.
